Well I finally did a duathlon and lived through it....My husband is a triathlete and does IronMan competitions so he is in great shape, I on the other hand work out but do not compete so it was different for me. I was very nervous about the transitions periods thinking I might take too long to get my road bike shoes off or that I might just fall off of my bike trying to unclip before dismount. I am pretty new at riding a road bike so it was a big concern for me. Thankfully I was able to dismount without any problems. I had a pretty good bike ride and my run was about average I guess. I finsihed in 8th place for my age group (really shocked me). My time was 1 hour and 15 minutes - not bad for my very first event. I estimated I would finish in about 1 hour and 30 minutes. I am really proud that I finished the event and to my surprise I had a great time. My daughter Melinda did the event with me along with her friend Marina - both of them finished as well. I am very proud of them - they did not have any notice at all, I asked them if they wanted to do it without just 4 days before the event. I will definately do another Triathlon and so is my daughter. We are both signing up for the Pacific Grove Triathlon in September. This time we actually have some time to train.
