Wow! My vacation was quite something. We had fun, but let's just say that it didn't exactly start out great.

To give a little background info I did not want to check a bag in fear that it might get lost; in the end I decided to do it becuase I couldn't have packed everything in one carry on. Of course my bag never came down the carousel; it was in SFO while I was in Hawaii. How did I know that this was going to happen to me? Luckily they were able to get my bag to me late that evening.

Then I was reading the driving directions to my resort, and some guy runs out onto the highway and tells me to pull over; of course it was an officer in an unmarked car. Apparently the maximum speed limit on all of Maui is 45 mph and I was doing 62 so the SOB gave me a ticket. I honestly don't see how I was going that fast becuase I had just gone through the stop light and the damn car that I was in had horrible pickup.

The weather was warm, but it was unfortunately super windy every day; it almost made no sense to even do our hair, but of course we did anyway. One day it poured on our side of the island, but when we got about 5 miles in we were in the clear and were fine, but it was just crazy. The sand blasted you whenever we walked on the beach and made us not want to even attempt it again.

During our trip Jessica and I both had plane crash nightmares which we kind of brushed off, but later turned out to have some meaning. On the flight home it kind of felt like our plane had sort of stopped in mid-air; we didn't hear anything from the captain until about 20 minutes later saying that the hydraulic pump had failed and forced them to shut down the second engine and had to make an emergency landing in Honolulu as it was unsafe to continue. It later turned out that there was even more wrong with the plane and they had us switch (sigh). Can you believe that? We were so nervous, but I felt so relieved that we switched; I was that close to buying a new plane ticket just to get off of that flight.

We did a lot of shopping, but the bulk of our money was spent on food which kind of sucked, but that's part of vacation. Don't get me wrong we had a great time, but there was a lot more dampers on this trip than there have been on previous trips.

The vacation was fun, but as always I am so glad to be home and on the ground.
