First Supermoto race

I did my first supermoto race

As many of you know I compete in motorcycle racing.  This past weekend I raced in my first supermoto race at Infineon Raceway.

I looked up who handles Northern California and applied for my license a few weeks ago.  I then registered for the Novice, Beginner, and Vet 35 classes.  I wanted as much racing as possible throughout the day.  The races are pretty short and do not really test your endurance.  It's more of a sprint.

A few weeks ago I did get one practice in, and it went well.  Motocrossers are pretty agressive on the track.  I come from a roadracing background but have spent the last 5 years racing motocross, Baja, etc..  For those of you who do not know Supermoto is a combination of dirt and road.  Motocross bikes or Offroad bikes setup with road tires or slicks are preferred.

I made a few tweaks on my Yellow Yamaha,  and was ready to go.  As the event neared I did get more nervous.  After the firsrt practice I felt better though.

Race 1 I gridded 23rd.  I finished 10th.
Race 2 I gridded 9th.  I stalled in the start, worked my way up to 3rd, then crashed.  I finished 5th.
Race 3 I finished 10th.
Race 4 I finished 2nd.

By the way I backed out the Vet 35 race after seeing who was entered.  I'll need a little more practice for that.

Great job Supermotousa and Brock.
