Reduce the Signs of Aging

Since we can't virtually stop the aging process, we can dfinitely slow and or prevent the signs of premature aging caused by lifestyle habits.

Protect Your Skin

The sun is the cause of 80% of premature aging, so to radically reduce this percentage it's smart to protect your skin from the sun's harful rays.

1) Avoid the sun between 11am to 4pm - this is when the rays are at their peak.

2) Always wear sunscreen athat is SPF 15 and higher - be sure to reapply every 2 to 3 hours.

3) Wear sunglasses and maybe even a hat. Our eyes say a lot about our age and the most common wrinkles can be seen around the eye area; predominantly caused from squinting when not wearing sunglasses.

4) Tanning beds are an absolute no -  no. The rays are severe to the skin and the aging process, but is also very dangerous.

Skin Cancer is very common and goes unnoticed becuase you actually feel fine until it's at a life threatening point.

Always check your body for unfamiliar spots, get them checked out if you have any and stay away from the tanning salon. The tanned Barbie girls that go there might look nice now, but think of them 15 years from now...yuck!

5) Sunless Tanners - I like Loreal's Sublime Glow, $7; the scent is very light, has a sparkle to the lotion and gives a very natural looking tan. Your skin will be moisterized and you will look like you tanned all day at the beach - minus the harmful rays and premature aging!

Exercise

Stay fit while decreasing your risk of conditions such as high blood pressure and heart disease. Your blood will get pumping which ultimately leads to healthier looking skin. The nutrients that are delivered during exercise are ideal for collagen production which keeps wrinkles away.

No Smoking

Cigarettes are not only extremely bad for your health, but also depletes your body of Vitamin C, which helps to keep your skin moisterized and plump. Cigarette smoke dries out the skin and increases wrinkling. If you've ever been around a smoker or are one yourself, then you know what I'm talking about. I've always felt that smokers look at least 15 years older than they are...ugh and not to mention the teeth discoloration!

Sleep Tight

"Get your beauty sleep," wasn't just a catch phrase; it was the truth. Lack of sleep shows up significantly in your face; the dark circles, bags under the eyes and sagging are all due to lack of adequate sleep; research shows that most adults function at their best with at least 8 to 9 hours of sleep per night.

Diet / Nutrition

"You are what you eat," there's another one! If you eat a lot of junk food, chances are you are going to look and feel a little junky. Instead opt for a well balanced meal, proper proportions and drink a lot of water. Sugary drinks like soda and artificial juices will actually dehydrate you.

Nutritional deficiencies can also lead to fatigue, skin lesions, and rashes. If you crave something sweet, instead choose something like a cantaloupe or orange, both also are said to help ward off tummy fat. There are great substitutions that are much healthier and accurately proportioned to help you eat better.
